What Exactly is Holistic Health?

Holistic Health

According to the National Institutes of Health, Holistic Health is about caring for the whole person. It’s an approach to health care that addresses the Mind, Body, and Spirit. It focuses on prevention and wellness, not just treating disease.

At Healing Hands School of Holistic Health, (Healing Hands), we’ve been advocating for Holistic Health for over 32 years.  We do this by offering two educational Programs: Massage Therapy and Holistic Health Practitioner).  Our  curriculum boasts over 40 Massage and integrative Holistic Health courses.

Integrative Therapies

Learn Triggerpoint!

Our faculty encourages Students to prioritize self-care because Massage Therapy can be physically demanding.  They also empower them by teaching evidence-based ‘Integrative Therapies’. These include Massage modalities, i.e.: Circulatory, Deep Tissue Manipulations, Sports Massage, Lomi Lomi, Shiatsu, and Tui-Na to name a few.  They also provide expertise in integrative therapies like Neuromuscular, Trigger Point, Reflexology, Homeopathy, Aromatherapy, Reiki (Energy-work), Chakra Balancing, and more!

Self-care strategies for the Mind, Body and Spirit are an integral part of Healing Hands Curriculum.  Massage can be a physically demanding career, so self-care is vital for the longevity of all Massage

Therapists’ careers. Accordingly, Students learn the importance of good nutrition, daily exercise, meditation, sleep, self-awareness, and thought/stress management.

Even simple techniques like how to use a Tennis or La Cross Ball to release muscle knots, are practiced in class. Students learn therapeutic stretches that can relieve pain and align the body.  In addition, a short form of Tai Chi is taught to provide Students with a moving meditation they can use to focus and calm their minds.

Holistic Health Advocacy

Healing Hands isn’t the first school to honor the mind-body connection, yet it’s a true trail blazer for Holistic Health education here in Southern California.  Founded in 1992, the dedicated Faculty at Healing Hands has prepared more than 8,000 students for successful careers as Professional Massage Therapists or Holistic Health Practitioners. That’s 8,000 holistic health advocates committed to getting people healthy and keeping them that way!  That’s something we’re proud of.

Do you believe in the Mind-Body Connection?   Do you want a meaningful career that promotes health and healing?
