Why take a course in Somatic Awareness Through Movement?

Somatic awareness is used to guide changes in disease/illness beliefs, body schema, coping styles, interpersonal dynamics, sleep, and medication dependence. It is much easier for the patient to accept, experience and alter the impact of previous trauma, personality, stress and emotions if they view the body as the mediator of these experiences. Somatic awareness serves as a powerful clinical tool to facilitate communication between the Practitioner and patient. It involves directing a patient’s attention to their body’s experience and associated feelings.  Its purpose is to activate self-healing and promote holistic health.
