What Exactly is Reflexology?
A form of touch therapy, Reflexology involves the application of pressure to specific points and areas on the feet, hands, or ears. Practitioners believe that pressing Reflex points that correspond to different body organs and Systems creates real benefits for the person’s health. For example, a specific spot in the arch of the foot corresponds to the bladder. When a Practitioner uses thumbs or fingers to apply appropriate pressure to this area, it affects bladder functioning.

Who’s Teaching?
Denise Fultz is a Certified Massage Therapist, Holistic Health Practitioner, Public Speaker, and multi-subject Instructor for Healing Hands. She has been a valued Faculty member for over 20 years. In addition to Reflexology, Denise teaches courses in Anatomy for Body Workers, Geriatric Massage, Homeopathic First Aid, Lymph Drainage, and Circulatory Massage.

What Will I Learn in a Reflexology Course?
In this course, Denise combines lecture, demonstration and guided hands-on practice to educate Students on the locations of various reflex points. In fact, she and Staff Instructor Raina Colvin created a Reflexology Chart to help them. The multi-colored, stand-up chart defines which points relate to specific organs, glands, and body systems. The guide allows students to quickly begin practice and focus on mastering the manipulation techniques that stimulate these points.
The Benefits of Reflexology:
Although Reflexology is not used to diagnose or cure disease, millions of people around the world use it to complement other treatments. Accordingly, it is used to enhance results when addressing cardiovascular issues, diabetes, headaches, anxiety, cancer treatment, kidney function, PMS, and sinusitis. Reflexology also relieves many common ailments including Arthritis, Fibromyalgia, Plantar Fasciitis, and various digestive disorders.

The History of Reflexology in the US:
In 1917, William H. Fitzgerald, MD, known as the father of Reflexology, wrote about ten vertical zones that extended the length of the body. He discovered that applying pressure to a zone of an injury could serve as pain relief during minor surgeries. His work was further expanded by Dr. Shelby Riley who created a map of reflex points on the feet hands.
