The goal of holistic nutrition is to facilitate a healthy nutrition plan as well as build a strong foundation for long term health and wellbeing. In this course, students examine the basic nutrients in food including: carbohydrates, vitamins, enzymes, fatty acids, and amino acids and how food affects the mind/body connection. Discussions include how food choices impact our health and how the energy of food ingested affects our own energy. Students also explore the process of digestion to gain a better understanding of the breakdown and utilization of our food. A portion of this class includes demonstration, preparation and sharing of delicious and healthy recipes the student can incorporate into their own unique nutrition program.
