The NeuroMuscular Therapy class is designed to introduce entry-level massage students to accessible and readily usable protocols for assessing and treating a wide variety of soft tissue disorders. Generally, musculo-skeletal disorders involving repetitive stress or cumulative traumas are endemic to recreation and work, a large territory involving our locomotor structures and their function/dysfunction, use and abuse. Special attention will; be paid to matching treatment to injury, treatment adaptability and the appropriate use of rehabilitation/prevention protocols (within the scope of practice of massage therapy). A deepening of anatomical, biological, and kinesiological knowledge will be foundational for accurate, evidence based clinical reasoning.
Please note students should purchase required books: Orthopedic Assessment in Massage Therapy by Whitney Lowe 2006 Daviau Scott and Orthopedic Massage Theory and Technique, Whitney W. Lowe 2nd edition, Mosby 2009.
