On March 19th, 2023, Healing Hands students from our Orange County Massage School Advanced Circulatory & Sports Massage (aka Sports) course provided massages to the runners and athletes participating in the LA Marathon. Our Sports class has been offering massages at the LA Marathon since 1995, and we are consistently invited back year after year. So, what sets us apart as a school with exceptional therapists?
Our sports massage program allows our students to acquire a unique set of massage skills designed for rehabilitating the body after a sporting event. These skills include cross-fibering techniques, stretches, and movement.
- Clients stay clothed: At these events, clients remain fully clothed during their treatment.
- No oils or lotions are used: After running 26.2 miles, who wants oil or lotion on their body? Part of learning massage involves adapting treatments to different settings where certain tools might not be suitable. In a clothed, open-air setting after a race, oils, and lotions are not as appropriate as they would be in a spa environment.
Healing Hands takes great pride in the quality of our students and the unique skillset they bring to events like the LA Marathon. By providing treatments that respect the needs of the athletes, we have established a strong reputation in the community. We look forward to continuing our tradition of offering exceptional sports massage services at future events and helping athletes recover and perform at their best. Students will be onsite providing top-notch sports massage services to help athletes at the upcoming Surf City 10 in September 2023.
