Holistic Massage School Shares Benefits of Deep Tissue Manipulations

According to the National Center for Complementary and Integrative Health, approximately 15.4 million American adults and 385,000 children have received massage therapy services” said Harmony Morgan, Director for Healing Hands School of Holistic Health – Laguna Hills. “With a growing awareness of the benefits of Therapeutic Massage, the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics expects the industry will grow by 26 percent between 2016 and 2026.  This percentage is much faster than the average 7% for all other occupations promising the Profession Massage Therapist an “in-demand” career with a very bright future!”, she added.

Founded in 1992, Healing Hands offers a wide variety of massage modalities, each requiring different techniques to serve different purposes. One of the modalities that tends to be requested more often than others, is Deep Tissue Massage.  A favorite class among Students interest in Clinical, Rehabilitative and Sports Massage, Deep Tissue works on the deepest layers of muscle and connective tissues in the body.  Its goal is to release muscle and nerve entrapment, speed healing of injuries, and optimize ease of motion and athletic performance.

Deep Tissue Techniques:

A Therapist may combine deep pressure, and a combination of cross-fiber strokes, lengthening strokes, anchor and stretch techniques.  Learning to manipulate fascia (the web-like network that permeates the entire body) allows the Therapist to release taught muscles and free areas where muscles and nerves may be entrapped or stuck together.

Benefits of Deep Tissue:

Healing Hands’ Deep Tissue Instructors teach techniques for muscle sculpting, scar reduction, structural alignment and to speed healing.  These skills allow students to dramatically impact their clients level of muscle tension, aches, pains and stiffness.  Benefits are immediate, dramatic and long lasting.  These include improvement in the client’s range of motion, enhanced posture, better balance, more flexibility , a higher energy level and optimal performance.

Unique Qualities of Deep Tissue Massage:

Deep tissue work requires client participation.   Therefore, at Healing Hands, our Instructors place a special emphasis on the mind-body connection.  Students learn effective communication skills to facilitate the emotional awareness associated with deep bodywork.  They explore how our thoughts, feelings, beliefs, and attitudes affect our biological functioning. They also learn that how they treat their physical bodies: eating healthy foods, exercising regularly and paying attention to their posture, will absolutely impact their mental state.  Deep Tissue, as taught at Healing Hands highlights the complex interrelationship between our minds and bodies.
