“Clinical Acupressure (CA) is derived from Traditional Acupressure which is considered an important component of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM)”, says Harmony Morgan, Director for Healing Hands School of Holistic Health. “CA uses touch on specific points along the energy meridians (paths) in the body, to release and balance the flow of life-force energy. It can be used as an integrative therapy when included with traditional methods like Physical Therapy, Massage, or Nursing. CA has also proven effective as a stand-alone therapy, making it a valuable and effective tool for Professional Massage Therapists and Holistic Health Practitioners alike”, she added.
Healing Hands is offering a Clinical Acupressure course, taught by Dr. Shannon Gonzalez, beginning on July 7th at the Laguna Hills classroom (23022 La Cadena). A Doctor of Acupuncture & Oriental Medicine, Dr. Gonzalez was selected to teach at Healing Hands in 2006, shortly after completing the 1,000-hour Holistic Health Practitioner Program.
Passionate about living life from a heart-centered perspective, Dr. Gonzales receives great satisfaction from sharing her knowledge, philosophy, skills and experience with students. Regarded as a multi-modality ‘Rock-Star’ at Healing Hands, in addition to CA, Dr. Gonzalez teaches a 100-hour course in TuiNa, plus three popular elective courses: Energetic Bodywork, Traditional Oriental Clinical Techniques and Chair Massage.
When she’s not teaching, Dr. Gonzalez maintains a successful energetic bodywork practice. The dedication, respect and concern she demonstrates with clients is carried over into interactions with students. Dr. Gonzalez’ excellence as an Instructor was recognized and rewarded in 2017 with Healing Hands’, ‘Teacher of the Year Award’.
In Healing Hands CA course, students learn about the 72 channels that make up the Meridian Matrix System (energy paths) believed to circulate life-force energy through the body. Special attention is given to TCM’s ‘Organ Philosophy’ and the 12 Primary Meridians of the human body. Students will learn to locate specific Acupressure points and understand their functions. They will learn to recognize imbalances in the Meridian Matrix System and how to deliver appropriate treatments to correct them. The course also delves into how to integrate the basic principles of TCM and Acupressure with other Massage practices. Treatment options taught will include; boosting the body’s immune system, calming indigestion, stabilizing emotions, enhancing sleep, diminishing pain, and fighting off other common ailments.
