The Importance Of Breathwork

Inhaling and exhaling – it’s something we do all day. It’s also something we don’t think about too often. As simple as breathing is for our everyday lives, it is the groundwork for improving our mind, body, and soul.

Purposeful breathing patterns aid in controlling the inner workings of your body.

We believe that in order for our students to effectively heal their clients, they must gain the experience and education of holistic living to implement into their own personal lives. One way we attribute to this lifestyle is through breathwork. Students in Laguna Hills, Escondido, and Kearny Mesa are able to take courses that teach them the fundamentals of conscious breathing.

Breathwork is more than just an exercise of breathing correctly. These techniques are used as tools for major transformation and healing. It encompasses a wide range of therapeutic practices and exercises that relieve tension mentally, physically and emotionally.

Here’s why breathwork is so important:

It Provides Mental Clarity

Breathwork can help you reach a deeper state of mind. This active meditation technique relieves emotional distress, allowing you to remove any mental blocks that cloud judgement. Conscious breathing techniques will ground you and make it much easier to take a step back in challenging situations to gain insightful perspective.

It Calms Down Your Nervous System

When you are afraid, stressed, or tense, your body enters “fight or flight” mode. As your body experiences this, the breathing pattern changes. Breathwork helps realign your nervous system by slowing down your heart rate and lowering your blood pressure. This shift in breathing calms the body by reversing the effects of stressful responses.

It Boosts Your Emotional State

Intentionally altering the way you breathe is the fastest way to change how you feel. Conscious breathing gets you out of your mind by taking away stress and adding new energy into your body. The mind can be the biggest block within healing, as your brain is constantly trying to keep you safe. With mental and physical tranquility, you are able to calm the inner emotional turbulence in your head.

By turning this unconscious act into a mindful practice, we are able to utilize this powerful healing technology within ourselves and within our clients.

At Healing Hands, we offer a course in Breathwork and Conscious Breathing. This course will introduce different styles of breathwork. It includes a variety of breathing techniques and exercises that students can use to complement their massage practice once integrated into their own well-being. The chakra system and meditation will be briefly discussed in a traditional and non-traditional sense, allowing the student to decide for themselves how they may fit them into their healing practice.
