Question – You and Paula have managed to keep Healing Hands School of Holistic Health thriving for more than 27 years. Tell us what you are most proud of?
Answer – I am a big believer in Western Medicine. If you want to see a miracle, you can go to any local hospital and you will see many miracles they perform. There is no doubt that Western medical practitioners are savings lives daily. But what are they using? In most cases, Western medicine uses a variety of incredible drugs and amazing surgeries. So, I would never say those things are not important…because they are. But then, what’s available to us, as Massage Therapists and Body-workers? Everything else! We get to do everything else.
At Healing Hands School we teach holistic healing techniques from all over the world. We get to do Ayurvedic work from India, TuiNa (Acupressue) that comes from China, Shiatsu that comes from Japan, Lomi Lomi that comes from Hawaii and Thai Massage. We get to learn and teach all of these at Healing Hands. These are ancient traditions, traditions that are hundreds if not thousands of years old that we learn from.
And, we also have the most modern techniques to offer students. We’ve got Structural Integration, Neuro-Muscular Therapy, Myo-facial Release, techniques and modalities at the forefront of body-work and massage education. Here at Healing Hands School of Holistic Health, we really get to learn from great traditions of body-work from around the world. That’s what I’m most proud about.
