LaborDay, considered a “working person’s holiday”, is a tribute to the strength, Spirit, and socio-economic achievements of the American worker. First celebrated on September 5, 1882, traditional Labor Day observances brought workers together with family to relax, picnic and enjoy recreational activities. Through the years, the nature of the Labor Day celebration has shifted to an emphasis on the economic and civic significance of the holiday. Today observance includes the spiritual and educational aspects of the labor movement as well.
