Healing Hands is NOT your Average Massage Therapy School … …And Why That’s Great News for Aspiring Massage Professionals!

According to Graduates, Healing Hands School of Holistic Health (Healing Hands) isn’t your average school of Massage Therapy, and they’re absolutely right!  Through the years students have characterized Healing Hands as a place where tremendous personal healing, professional growth and spiritual transformation takes place.  Their appreciation of the Staff and Faculty for their heart-centered approach to education is evidenced by the hundreds of graduate-referred students who enroll annually.

“Many of the Students who are drawn to Healing Hands, are Sports and Health enthusiasts attracted initially to information that can help them optimize their own health and performance”, said Harmony Curtiss, Director for Laguna Hills campus.  It isn’t until they begin gaining the knowledge and skills to positively impact others through therapeutic touch, that they become truly excited about their career potential,” she added.

School Director, Paula Curtiss is passionate about Holistic Health and considered a true trail-blazer for Holistic education.  She and husband Neha created the first Massage Therapist Training Program for Community Colleges in the OC before launching Healing Hands in 1992.  Since then, they have added two Certification Programs and offer more than 80 Massage and related Holistic Health courses.

Healing Hands Mission Statements includes: “… making an education in the Holistic Healing Arts available to all who seek one”.  Toward that end, Paula worked tirelessly to qualify for ‘National Accreditation’ making the school eligible to receive Federal Funding on behalf of students.  This includes Financial Aid for Students, Veterans,  WIOA clients and those who are Unemployed and qualify for retraining.

Healing Hands’ 600-hour Massage Therapist Program (MT) delves deeply into Anatomy offering 100 hours of study on just the muscles, bones and body systems alone.  In addition, students receive 50 hours of Business & Professional Practices, 50 hours of clinic work, plus 400 hours of hands-on practice in both Eastern and Western massage modalities.  Healing Hands MT Program empowers students with everything they’ll need to become State certified and embark on their new career as a Professional Massage Therapist.   To date, Healing Hands Faculty has facilitated that reality for more than 7,000 Graduates!

For students whose aspirations go above and beyond attaining State Certification, Healing Hands also offers a 1000-hour Holistic Health Practitioner Program (HHP).  It allows students access to more than 80 Massage Therapy and related Holistic Health courses. These “elective” classes, are often advanced classes that give students a deeper understanding of our Mind/Body, and how to stimulate their clients’ innate healing system.  These include: Structural Integration, Neuro-Muscular,  Trigger Point, Energy-work, Therapeutic Stretching and dozens more.

Healing Hands wouldn’t be a school of Holistic Health without hundreds of educational hours dedicated to  Herbal Studies and Applications, Holistic Nutrition, and Superfoods.  These important holistic classes are led by Instructor, Shana Lipner-Grover who is a Clinical Herbalist, Field Botanist, and Herbal Medicine Maker, adding volumes to our students’ understanding of Holistic Health.

Many HHP graduates go on to become small business owners who choose to provide massage services from their own homes, via a mobile service, or invest in small offices or Wellness Clinics.  These Graduates often expand their services to include some form of holistic education, (ie: nutrition counseling), or natural remedies (ie: Aromatherapy, Herbal Remedies, Homeopathy).
