“Whether you are interested in attending a 100 hour Circulatory Massage Course, a 500 Hour Massage Therapy Program, or a 1000 hour Holistic Health Practitioner Program, Healing Hands School of Holistic Health (HH), can assist you in finding the very best financial solution for your educational needs” said Paula Curtiss, Founding Director for HH. “As of October 1st, 2016, students became able to file a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) for the 2017-18 school year three months earlier than usual, and the process has been simplified. Now students have the convenience of using prior-prior year tax data so they can get college applications in before the start of the winter term in January”, she continued.
Completing a FAFSA is a student’s first step to getting federal money for education which includes subsidized and unsubsidized student loans, plus Pell Grants (Pell Grants do not require pay back). The information on a FAFSA is also used by colleges, state governments and others to determine if the student qualifies for other types of financial aid or scholarships. These may include but are not limited to: the Workplace Investment Opportunity Act (WIOA) Educational Funds, VA Benefits, Post 911 Veterans Benefits & Training, and Employment Development Department (EDD) Education & Training benefits.
For students interested in a career in Massage Therapy or as a Holistic Health Practitioner, HH is one of the few schools that is Nationally Accredited, State Approved (by CAMTC) and qualified to receive all forms of financial aid on behalf of students. For those who don’t qualify, or are awarded only partial benefits, HH offers in-house financing plans making a career as a Massage Therapist attainable to all who desire it, one of the school’s founding visions.
In the past, filing for financial aid involved researching your family’s tax returns and documents to complete a lengthy 10-page work-book. Today, application is far less complicated as the on-line form is automatically filled using IRS data, cutting the filing process down to an average of 20 minutes. Finding out if you qualify for financial aid is as easy as 1-2-3:
- Go online to: fafsa.ed.gov
- Click on: “Start a New FAFSA”
- Complete the online form
After filing, you will be sent a report on your eligibility for the Pell Grand and the amount you can expect to receive. Note: If you are seeking a loan, fill out a Federal Direct Loan application along with your FAFSA at studentloans.gov.
According to the education advising site: Edvisors.com, nearly two million students who would have qualified for the Pell grant in the 2011-12 never applied, assuming they wouldn’t qualify.
